A one-hour session to explore and discuss what it means to provide transgender-inclusive health care services.
We all hear that we should be culturally sensitive and culturally competent, but what does this really mean when providing care to transgender patients? What does inclusive mean in regards to transgender or gender non-conforming individuals?
This one-hour workshop will provide an opportunity for staff to learn about the following topics pertinent to providing diversity competent care to transgender patients/clients/residents:
- Transgender identities, concepts, history and issues
- Training in the usage of respectful language, preferred names/pronouns
- Concrete tools for creating safer spaces for gender diverse clients and reducing barriers to accessing services
- An opportunity to ask questions and discuss issues specific to your practice
