Part music festival, part carnival, part educational event: Recovery Day BC is a celebration, a rally, a memorial for those lost, and a tool to raise awareness for recovery while reducing the stigma of addiction recovery.
Recovery Day BC is a celebration for those who have overcome their addiction and mental illness at a one day street festival in New Westminster. Last year the attendees were surveyed and people from across the Metro Vancouver area attended Recovery Day. Recovery Day is also a space for the general public to come an meet BC's service providers, learn about new services and where and how to ask for help. This year 20,000 people are expected to attend Recovery Day BC.
Recovery Day BC is a street festival, this year RDBC will feature 90 Mental Health and Addiction Recovery Services Information Booths, a kids zone, a free concert from Canadian Music Icon Matthew Good, two live stages, and a TED TALK Style Speaker tent featuring expert speakers.
