When Jim couldn’t come to the horses, we helped the horses come to him.

Sites across Fraser Health recognized the provincial "What Matters to You?" Day on June 6, with staff holding meaningful conversations with patients and clients about what matters to them. Surrey Memorial Hospital was a horse of a different colour, taking the concept further by granting patient wishes:

Jim, a volunteer with Pacific Riding for Developing Abilities for over 20 years, got a visit from his equine friends Alex and Dodger. Mitch enjoyed a giant slush drink after six weeks on a feeding tube. Avtar and Roy's cravings for fish and chips were satisfied. Craig can now browse his mini-library, and Irene chowed down on some longed-for chow mein.
