A new website designed to help patients, researchers and health care professionals learn how to access health records and clinical documentation resources.
The new Health Information Management (HIM) website, himconnect.ca, is designed to help patients, researchers, and institutions learn how to access health records, and to provide clinical documentation resources for physicians and clinicians.
Online and mobile-friendly access to health care records
Typically patients and their family members are dependent on clinicians to provide information on how to access health records. Increasingly, patients want to access information through the Internet and on their mobile phones/devices. himconnect.ca helps to direct people to the appropriate Records Management office from one of the many Lower Mainland locations (see our comprehensive Location Map with contact numbers).
Examples of common questions from patients that are answered on himconnect.ca:
- What is a Health Record?
- How can I access an Authorization for the Release of Health Records?
- How do I request a copy of my/child's health records?
- Who can sign the authorization form?
- Do I need parental consent if I am a child?
- What if a patient is incapable of giving consent?
Making clinical documentation resources available anywhere
Following best practices for clinical documentation are important components to consistently and effectively complete and communicate critical patient care information. Physicians and clinicians often require technical support for the range of software and technologies related to documentation. himconnect.ca offers more centralized phone and email contacts and other critical reference material to support providers.
Examples of common health care professional questions that are answered on himconnect.ca:
- How do I copy a patient to receive their transcribed report?
