While many of us begin to consider making a personal pledge leading up to Change Day BC on November 17, some teams are taking bold pledge steps and challenging others to match or beat their pledge numbers.

Such is the case with the Quality Team, who raised 97 pledges in a challenge against the Professional Practice, Ethics and Infection Control team who, in response, raised 114 pledges. Together, the teams reached 100 pledges in the first hour of their challenge launch on September 8, and by end of day, they surpassed 200 pledges as a collective to commit to acts of positive change on the health system..

The teams now challenge others to initiate friendly competitions across health care teams, sites and units. Pledges are easy to do – take a moment to submit your pledge online. You can also choose to join your colleagues in posting your pledge to a pledge wall or placing it in a local drop box.

Making your pledge is only the first step – next, we invite you to act on it! Feel free to tell BC Patient Safety and Quality Council what you discovered when you put your pledge in motion.

More than 700 Change Day pledges have been made in British Columbia to date within the health, social and community care sectors, with more than 200 of those pledges generated by Fraser Health. Keep those pledges coming!
