For Langley Memorial Hospital

I’m writing this to let Fraser Health know what amazing staff you have at Langley Memorial Hospital. I have a recurring jaw dislocation problem. I have been to Langley Memorial Hospital quite a few times. I will be having surgery to correct this but in the meantime I must be diligent in wearing my jaw brace and controlling my yawning and sneezing, etc. Sometimes I forget and Christmas Day I did. I dislocated my jaw.

My first commendation goes to a nurse named Michael. He was upbeat, funny and had an amazing attitude even though the ER was packed, people were asking when they were next and it was Christmas Day. Michael was not bothered by this at all. He was happy to help people that were asking constantly when they were next and kept an upbeat attitude the whole time. Thank you Michael. When I got a bed, of course some of the staff recognized me and were saying Merry Christmas. These nurses and doctors ran the very busy ER like a well-oiled machine. You would never have guessed that the ER was unbelievably busy. They were all in sync.

It was amazing and even though it was so busy everyone had a smile on their face and upbeat attitudes. My team of nurses: Deb N., Denise F, doctors: Dr. Langeira, Dr. Lyle and Dr. Altman. I suffer from PTSD, panic disorder and depression. This team went above and beyond and were sympathetic about my condition and treated me with professionalism, humour and care. It’s not easy with my condition to be calm. This team that I have listed deserve a round of applause, and my dearest thank you.

You should be proud to have these amazing professionals working for Langley Memorial Hospital and Fraser Health. Thank you again.

For Surrey Memorial Hospital

I just wanted to pass on my thanks to the team at the Surrey Pediatric Emergency. I had my seven month old daughter there on December 26. It was a busy day as all the clinics were closed. Everyone was very helpful and kind through our visit. I particularly would like to thank Dr. Y.B. Ip for his helpfulness. He helped me carry my child's car seat to and from the exam area and apologized for the wait. After we had a chest X-ray, he showed me the images and asked me for my phone so that he could send me away with the pictures (something I was not immediately concerned about and didn't think to do). He took the pictures, gave us an antibiotic and sent us on our way. I am grateful for the attentiveness from all the team members (Dr. Ip, the nurses, and the X-ray tech). Thank you for the care you provided to us!

For Eagle Ridge Hospital

I am writing to acknowledge the excellent care that I received at the Eagle Ridge emergency ward, and the high standard of care I observed other patients receiving. I cannot begin to tell you how impressed I was with the doctors, nurses and other staff who cared for me and the other patients in the ward that night. During this time there were two shifts of staff working on the ward. I felt so grateful that I received such a high standard of medical care, including access diagnostic technology (X-ray) and a referral to a specialist (Dr. Ben B.) who took the time to explain his thinking about my symptoms and answer my questions. All of the staff ensured that my needs were met during the time that I was at the ER from the security guard who helped me with my parking, to the staff member who ensured that I had something to eat. Not only were the staff caring and helpful to the patients, I noticed that they were also very collegial and kind to one another. I hope that the accomplishments and contributions of these teams can be recognized.

For Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgery Centre

I was in the Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgery Centre where I had surgery performed for my inguinal hernia (4th Floor 4A admitting area). I have to say that I have never had such a wonderful hospital experience as I did that day!

All of the staff, nurses, doctors, surgeons, and the anesthesiologist that I encountered and observed were so friendly, accommodating, understanding and all seemed to do their jobs like clockwork.

However, there was one absolutely wonderful young lady (a nurse, I believe) named Julie who stood out amongst the others in so many ways. Julie took amazing care of me after my surgery and I was amazed by her incredible bedside manner, great sense of humour, her smile and warm caring aura that made me feel that I could trust her completely being in her care. I have never felt more at ease. Fraser Health and the Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgery Centre should be extremely proud having Julie on staff.

I want to thank my very kind surgeon Dr. Lai for performing my surgery, and all those involved from admission to departure.
