Eating disorders don’t discriminate; they can affect anyone regardless of age or gender. My passion is to help people who suffer from this devastating illness.

Eating disorders don’t discriminate; they can affect anyone regardless of age or gender. My passion is to help people who suffer from this devastating illness.

Making a person feel welcome and cared for is my primary concern to ensure clients feel safe to engage in our services. Treating people with dignity and respect are core values I practice in my work. The clients and families I serve are in a vulnerable place when they walk through the door. I live these values by seeing each interaction with my client as an opportunity to show kindness, warmth and respect.

-- Elspeth Humphreys, Regional Coordinator, Fraser Health Eating Disorders Program

Elspeth is a member of our People and Culture Advisory Council. She and her team were awarded our 2017 Innovation Grant for work in removing barriers for clients and families to access therapeutic and educational supports.

Elspeth’s story shows how we are strengthening our patient and family-centred approach to care. See Our Shared Commitments pledge created in partnership with employees, as well as with our patients and families through Fraser Health’s Patient Advisory Council and the People and Culture Steering Committee and Advisory Council.
