At Fraser Health, evidence-based practice is part of our culture. Library Services helps staff access the most recent academic research and best practices to inform policy and clinical decisions.
Library Services supports the use of evidence by providing access to research databases, locating resources such as books and articles, and performing literature searches for Fraser Health staff and affiliated physicians.
In the 2017-18 fiscal year, we performed 783 in-depth literature searches.
The research champion with the most literature search requests is Liz Da Silva, research dietitian at Surrey Memorial Hospital.
“It’s amazing to me that more staff don’t know that the library will do this!” Liz says. "I’m very curious and the library’s literature searches free up my time to read the papers... I love the service from the Library.”
Liz is not alone, dietitians have requested the most literature searches in 2017-18, followed closely by those working in Mental Health and Substance Use (both well over 100 requests in the last two years).
If you are interested in requesting a literature search, you can fill out the Library’s literature search request form on FHPulse, located under Library > Research Help, and one of our staff will help you. This service is available to all Fraser Health staff at any site.
